Welcome to online keno website! We will take you for a ride through keno games and online lotteries!
This is the place to relax and get to know an easy to learn game. Playing keno is a good way to rest after a game like blackjack and fun to play at web based gambling sites.
Unfortunately, it also has a higher house advantage than almost any other casino game. That makes it one of the worst games to play in a casino.
What is online keno?
If you’re familiar with any lotto, you already know almost enough to play keno. Keno is much alike lotto only it offers better odds and more frequent games. The downside of playing keno is a monstrous house advantage of around 30 percent! The game includes three main components; the keno ticket, the ball hopper or cage and a display board.
In general terms, the game works as follows:
After buying the ticket, the player marks one to twenty numbers.
Out of 80 balls, each marked with a number from 1 to 80, 20 balls at random by a machine and is displayed on the display board.
A win occurs if enough of the spots selected on the ticket match the balls drawn.
Almost every winning combination for keno has odds of more than 10:1 and most are in the 100:1 range or beyond. Players can usually participate in a game of keno in several locations throughout the casino, but the game is actually “played” in the Keno Lounge. According to Cashmio casino review posted on our friendly website, keno game can be played for real money 24/7.
The Keno Lounge is much like a fancy bingo hall, with rows of chairs and tables facing the display board. The display board shows eighty numbers with the ones selected highlighted. Bets are made in the area below the board using markers that usually look like crayons.br/>
Well that’s about all there is to it. Of course there are a few other details such as wagering, payouts, odds, etc. Read the following pages to know all about keno bets possibilities.
Keno is in many ways similar to a lotto game. That’s because keno is in fact lotto. During the 3000-years of keno history the name has been changed a few times, mostly to get around the law or taxes or both. The one thing everyone agrees on is that the Chinese invented the game to fund their army and The Great Wall.
Keno started out using 120 Chinese characters. Before the game left China, that number was reduced to 90. Keno came to America in the 19th century, together with the wave of Chinese immigrants. These were mostly the Chinese railroad workers of folklore. About this time the game was reduced once again, this time to 80 Chinese characters.
Although illegal (or maybe because), keno flourished among Chinese immigrants, especially around big cities like San Francisco. It became known as the Chinese lottery.
English speaking Americans became interested in the game, but had difficulty differentiating the Chinese characters used in the game (who wouldn’t). Around the beginning of the 20th century, keno operators replaced the Chinese characters with Arabic numbers to attract more players.
Although Nevada legalized most forms of gambling in 1931, the legislature did not legalize lottery. And the Chinese lottery was definitely a lottery. To avoid this trouble, operators simply changed the name to Race Horse Keno (simply genius). Each number was regarded as a horse. Today many keno operations still call their games “races”. When the U.S. Government passed a law taxing off track betting, the name was once again changed, this time to just Keno.
In 1963 the total keno payout limit in Nevada was $25,000. In 1979 it was changed to $50,000. In 1989 the Nevada Gaming Commission removed the limit, and casinos are now free to set their aggregate limits as they wish.
So when you’re sitting at the keno lounge or more comfortably at home with the computer, waiting for the board to flash the numbers, just think what a long tradition you are continuing, sit back, relax and enjoy the game.
Keno – How To Play
Creativeness is the name of the game in keno. Many different ways of betting were invented over the years. To make it simple and clear we divided them into 6 types:
- Straight Tickets
This is the basic and the most common ticket. There are no complications here. You simply mark your numbers and wait for the draw. Of course there are a few more things you need to know.
You have to decide how many spots you want to play. Most casinos, including web based gambling sites, allow you to choose 1 to 15 spots, and some even permit to choose 20, 32 or 40 numbers on a straight ticket. You will normally want to play 4 mark 8 numbers.
Below 4 spots, your payoff isn’t worth the average 30% casino take. Look at some of the other possibilities, at 8 numbers; your odds are about 230,115 to 1. If you mark 9 it jumps to 1.38 million to 1, and at 15, your odds of hitting all of them is an unrealistic 428 BILLION to 1!
Your last decision is to determine how much to bet. Ordinary straight tickets are $1.00, although some are 70 cents or lower. You can also play multiples of the base rates. For example, you could play a $1.00 ticket for $4.00, and your winnings will be multiplied by 4 times the $1.00 payout rate.
One very important thing to notice when playing multiples of the base rate; the casino will not pay more than the aggregate limit on any one game. So if the aggregate limit is $50,000, your payout will never exceed $50,000, no matter how much you bet. Take that into consideration when deciding how much money to wager.
- Split Tickets
A split ticket is simply 2 or more straight tickets played on the same physical ticket. Each logical ticket includes a group of numbers that are either circled, or separated by a line. Each game (group of numbers) must have it’s own unique numbers, and can not share numbers with any other group.
There is no advantage to a split ticket since you cannot use the same number more than once. It simply allows you to play two or more games on the same piece of paper. (The advantage might be said is that by joining the game you save paper and make it a friendly to environment game).
- Way Tickets
The payouts on way tickets are the same as playing the same games in multiple tickets and so there are only two reasons to play a way ticket.
The first is convenience. If it is more convenient for you to mark multiple games on a single ticket, a way ticket may be for you.
The second reason to play a way ticket is fractional rates. Some casinos will let you play for as little as 10 cents per way, instead of the usual $1.00 you would have to play on a straight ticket, Thus, playing more games on the same amount of money.
- Combination Tickets
Combination tickets provide the keno player the possibility to combine groups of straight bets on one ticket in various ways with the player betting one unit for each possible combination. Players can also combine straight bets and way bets on one ticket. The groups bet on a combination ticket should be marked clearly on the right hand side of the ticket.
- King Tickets
A king ticket has one number that is circled by itself. This number is referred to as the King and can be used in combination with other groups of numbers on a ticket.
King tickets are marked similarly to way and split tickets with the number of combinations played and the amount wagered per group displayed on the right hand side of the ticket.
- Special Tickets
These tickets are excellent online casino’s favorite, often offered by the casinos in order to promote their keno game.
A special ticket must be played in a certain way, decided before the game starts and pays off using a different pay schedule. This payout chart is usually marked on the special ticket itself. Special tickets usually offer slightly better deals than other keno tickets and are used to entice players. You still don’t understand why it is our favorite? Read on.
An example of a special ticket is the one called top and bottom. A player pays $5.00 for this special ticket and chooses either the top 40 or the bottom 40 numbers on a card. If all twenty numbers drawn are in the section the player selected, they usually get paid around $100,000.
If none of the numbers drawn are located in the section the player selected they still receive around $100,000. All other options are paid according to the special payout schedule. Simple and beautiful.
Keno – How To Win
Luck, luck, luck and even more of it, is what you need in order to win at keno. It is a blind luck game with numbers randomly picked. In addition, the house odds are so high (20-50%) it makes keno the least profitable game to play. Keno should be played for fun and as a relaxing break after games like blackjack or Caribbean poker.
Although it is a game of pure luck and the numbers are picked randomly, some people do like to use a couple of “strategies” when playing keno. One “strategy” involves choosing successive numbers. For example selecting 16 and 17 then maybe selecting 53 and 54.
Although there is no proof this actually works over the long run it does seem like many of the numbers that come out are in consecutive pairs. Continuing the same line of thought, some people like to play groups of three consecutive numbers. Another “strategy” involves selecting the numbers that came out in the last game.
You may find that some of the same numbers will appear in several consecutive games. The advantage of Web Based Gambling in this case is that you can try this first at the free games that are offered almost always. You won’t make money but at least you can see for yourself if this theory works or not.
Probably the only real way to improve your chances in keno is to make a “way” bet. Making a way bet allows you to make several bets on the same ticket without paying extra money. For instance you have three groups of three numbers A, B, and C; you can circle each group of three numbers to classify them as a group then mark your keno ticket as a way bet in the section called “Spots/Ways Rate”.
Instead of writing down 9 as in a straight bet mark “3/3” this means you are actually making three bets for the price on one. A bet on group A, a bet on group B and a bet on group C. To carry this even further you can even make a “combination way bet”. To do this you would simply take the same the same ticket with your three groups circled and write 3/6 in the Spots//Ways section. Now you are making bets on group A, B, C, AB, AC, and BC. Six ways to win all for the price of one! This type of bet is usually available in the keno lounges and not available on video keno machines.
